Frequently asked questions

Do you install Wireless Security Cameras?

99% of the time we will not install a wireless camera unless we absolutely have to because there is no way to hardwire the camera.  Any wireless camera we install will be hard powered to an outlet for continuous power - not reliant on batteries that must be changed.

Why do you not recommend Wireless Security Cameras?

We do not recommend the installation of Wireless Security Cameras for the following reasons:

  • Often these cameras are battery operated and require climbing up on a ladder to change batteries frequently.  This makes the camera not only a hassle, but unreliable.
  • Often these cameras record on motion only - and motion detection is not perfect - Therefore, you could miss crucial segments of video that you may need.
  • These cameras rely on your WiFi of your home/business - if your WiFi is not strong or goes out for any reason: you can lose footage of events you are trying to capture.

Our surveillance solutions are almost always hardwired to each individual camera - providing continuous power, and 24/7 recording.

We find that almost 50% of the time we hardwire our camera solutions for a residential client, we are there to replace their DIY wireless camera solutions (ring, arlo, etc.) that they have set up themselves for many of the above reasons.  Doing a job twice can be very expensive - hire us and do it the right way the first time.

What about DIY Hardwired Camera solutions from Costco & Other Companies?

Simply put - these camera systems you can often buy in "kits" at Costco and other stores - while they may work for a short period of time, are typically made of cheap plastics that often allow damage from snow, rain, or other elements - and typically house outdated technology inside them.

We often replace these DIY kits with our commercial quality solutions - Remember, it's very expensive to do a job twice - Do it right and hire us the first time.

Will you install cameras I purchased myself (DIY Kits)?

Yes - but we really, really, do not like to - and we'll probably try to talk you out of it.

Why? We want you to be just as happy with your Camera system the day of install - as you are 2-5 years from the date of install. Please see above notice about the quality of these kits - we find these kits ultimately fail due to cheap quality - and we cannot warranty these kits as we did not purchase them, nor provide them.

What is the warranty with your camera kits?

99% of the time - our camera installs come with a 2 year warranty from the manufacturer.  If your case is the 1% of the time that we cannot offer that warranty - we will tell you ahead of time.

What is the failure rate of your Cameras?

Quite frankly - in our experience, the failure rate of our preferred camera systems is so low - we have a hard time even tracking it.  If we had to estimate, .05% of the time a camera will fail that we install - and typically, it will fail in the first month of installation - in which it is replaced under warranty.

Are you Insured?

Of course, we are! We are a REAL business in Michigan - we are not handy men that do this out of the trunk of their car, we are professionals.

There is a major difference between the quality of work we provide vs. what a random individual with little to no low voltage experience will offer you.
